On this day in UK History.

Do you really want to know about this one?  On this day in 2010, saw Conservative David Cameron‘s arrival in Downing Street as Prime Minister of a coalition government, marking the end of 13 years of Labour rule, with Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg as Deputy Prime Minister.  Has it been THAT LONG!?

What’s happening?

Well without stating the obvious.  It has been a long time for me not posting.  But to be fair I have been busy.  Busy?  Yes.  January was spent partly in the UK.  Drove back, well drove from Bilbao after a very scary crossing through the Bay of Biscay.  Not for the faint hearted.  Then began preparations for my Cambridge CELTA course in Sevilla.  What a wonderful place.  What a hard course!  For me, anyway.  BUT it all worked out in the end.  And so I can add Cambridge CELTA (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages).  So that was February and March gone.  Due to the fact that I had to go back to UK to see our third Grandchild who arrived just I finished my course.

Now, I’m looking at what to do.  Continue with Oye! or looking for work in teaching here in Spain.  Whatever happens, I will continue with this blog.  With more of the same, to help any visitors to the site with their English.  Summer is on its way.

And for the month of July I will yet again be back in the UK at a Summer School teaching youngsters from all over Europe with their English.

2012 in review…………..

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.  Big Thank you to all and a Happy New Year!

Here’s an excerpt:

600 people reached the top of Mt. Everest in 2012. This blog got about 2,700 views in 2012. If every person who reached the top of Mt. Everest viewed this blog, it would have taken 5 years to get that many views.

On this day in UK History. Petrol rationing!

On this day in 1956, panic-buying broke out at garages across the country as the government gave details of its petrol rationing plans.  Petrol had been in short supply since the President of Egypt, Gamal Abdul Nasser, took over the running of the Suez Canal four months previously.

You see, it doesn’t just happen in this day and age.

On this day in UK History.

On this day in 1990, Margaret Thatcher made her last speech outside 10 Downing Street following her resignation as Prime Minister.

A sad day.   Like or hate her, I believe she was good for Great Britain.  But unfortunately towards the end she lost her way.  Wonder what she thinks of today’s Tories and David Cameron & Co.?

Music Spot for Wednesday.

Wednesday’s and Thursday’s are proving difficult to find what I would call a decent record and with lyrics.  But we will persevere.

BUT……..I did find this one.  Unfortunately without lyrics!  It’s from the BBC ……well……….CBBC (LOL-Loads of Laughs)

Happy Wednesday!

On this day in UK History.

On this day in 1967, President de Gaulle said ‘Non’ (No) to British entry into the Common Market.

Interesting…………….some people think we should never have entered it anyway?
