This day in UK History. Today!

On this day on 5th June, 2012, the day has been declared a Bank Holiday to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee.  It is the final day of 4 days of celebration to honour 60 years of the Queen as the UK and Commonwealth monarch.  It has been 115 years since the United Kingdom last celebrated a royal Diamond Jubilee (that was Queen Victoria’s) and it will be a long time before the United Kingdom has another Diamond Jubilee.  The current Queen will surpass Queen Victoria’s record of being the Monarch for 63 years and 7 months, in just over 3 years time.
