Sunk and raised. This day in UK History.

On this day in 1545, the warship the ‘Mary Rose‘, pride of King Henry VIII’s battle fleet, sank in the Solent with the loss of 700 lives.  In October 1982 it was raised and taken to Portsmouth Dockyard where a specially made dry dock was built and visitors can view the hull of the ship.
